To confirm as a correct record the minutes of the meeting held on 25th November 2008.

Minutes:

The Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 25th November, 2008 were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

 

During discussion of this item specific reference was made to Minute No : AH(5)18/08 naming of access road south of Millennium Way Aycliffe Business Park.  It was explained that the developers had chosen the name Moordale Road for the access road south of Millennium Way, Aycliffe Business Park.

 

23.

POLICE REPORT

A representative from the Police Force will be present at the meeting to give an update in relation to crime figures etc.

Minutes:

Sergeant B. O’Connor was present at the meeting.  He explained that if members of the forum had any particular issues/concerns relating to crime in the area he would inform the local Police Office for appropriate action to be taken.

 

It was explained that there was anti-social behaviour in the area of the new nursing home in Silverdale Place.  This issue needed to be addressed.

 

Concerns were also raised regarding the issue of motorcycles and scooters being ridden by youths in various open spaced areas and causing anti-social behaviour.  Members of the Forum were advised to inform the Police control room of such incidents with if possible description of the bike etc.  It was explained that the Police had powers to cease such motorbikes if uninsured and on second offence.

 

The issue of graffiti and anti-social behaviour in the area of the town centre was also highlighted.

 

Concerns were also raised at the lack of police cover for Middridge.  Reference was made in particular to an incident which had recently occurred in Middridge

  

24.

NHS COUNTY DURHAM

A representative from NHS County Durham (formerly County Durham PCT) will be present at the meeting to discuss issues with regard to health provision.

 

Minutes:

It was reported that the representative from NHS County Durham who had intended to be at the meeting had been required to attend a meeting in Durham and therefore could not be present at Area 5 Forum for the start of the proceedings.

 

He would however forward information for circulation to members of the Forum.

 

25.

QUESTIONS

The Chairman will take questions from the floor.

Minutes:

It was explained that at a meeting of the Residents Federation concerns had been expressed regarding the formation of a new residents association - Great Aycliffe Residents Association - to cover the whole of the town.  It was explained that the newly formed Association could not be recognised as it covered too big an area and also there were three Associations in place funded by the Borough. 

 

Members of the forum also expressed their concerns.
