At a Special Meeting of the Scrutiny Sub-Committee to Promote Strong, Healthy and Safe Communities held at the County Hall, Durham on Monday 30 October 2006 at 9.30 a.m.

A3 Statement of Medium Term Improvement Priorities

The Sub-Committee considered a report of the Head of Corporate Policy regarding a review of the Medium Term Improvement Priorities (for copy see file of Minutes).

The Sub-Committee were requested to give their views on the Council’s medium term improvement priorities, and considered the issues in depth.

Resolved:-

That there be no change in the existing medium term improvement priorities in relation to the three areas for improvement aligned to the Corporate Aim, Promoting Strong, Healthy and Safe Communities , but consideration should also be given to:-
  • Community Centres being developed as Community Hubs
  • Frameworks for the transaction of young people into adult services
  • Overcoming short-term funding of community based programmes (youth workers etc)
  • Consultation and engagement with local communities where changes in services are proposed
  • Developing mechanisms for ranking and costing of improvement priorities.
