Report of the Scrutiny Training Assessment Group
Purpose of Report
1. To provide some background to the presentation to be given to the SubCommittee about the impact of Europe on the County Durham economy.
Background
2. A presentation will be delivered by Yvonne Edwards who leads on European Issues in the Chief Executive’s Service of the County Council. This presentation will cover the way in which the European Union, through its policies and strategies, impacts on County Durham’s economy.
3. In particular, there will be a focus on the way in which European issues contribute to the County Durham Strategic Vision and Corporate priorities and supports the work of the County Durham Economic Partnership.
4. The presentation will also cover the future arrangements and changes in the European Union as it expands.
