Report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny

Purpose of Report

1. To confirm the Terms of Reference of this Committee, Membership for 2008/09, and the Dates of Meetings.

Terms of Reference

2. The Council is required under the Constitution to appoint a Looking After the Environment Scrutiny Committee. The formal terms of reference of the Committee are attached to this report to assist Members.

Membership of Committee 2008/09

3. The Looking After the Environment Scrutiny Committee will consist of 20 Members, plus up to 6 non-voting co-opted members.


Dates of Meetings

4. The Committee will meet at 10 a.m. on the following days:- Monday 30 June 2008
Monday 15 September 2008
Monday 8 December 2008
Monday 16 March 2009

Scrutiny Committee for Looking After the Environment

 To fulfil the Overview and Scrutiny role in relation to:

1. to revitalise, conserve and protect the County’s settlements, countryside and historic features;

2. to manage waste and resources sustainably, reduce pollution and adapt to climate change;

3. to provide an integrated, effective and safe transport system in support of access for all;

4. to consider relevant plans and strategies relating to the Sub-Committee’s area of responsibility.
