A1 Minutes The Minutes of the meeting held on 10 January 2005 were agreed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.
A2 Declarations of Interest There were no declarations of interest.
A3 Joint Committee - Mental Health Services - Tees and North East Yorkshire Trust The Sub Committee considered a report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny (for copy see file of Minutes) about the progress made by the Joint Committee which has been looking at proposals to change mental health provision particularly in the south Easington area.
Resolved: That the current position be noted.
A4 South Stanley Health Centre - Update Wynn Griffiths, Chief Executive of Derwentside Primary Care Trust updated the Sub Committee on the proposals for the modernising of health services in Stanley.
Derwentside PCT is commencing a three month period of consultation which lasts up to 4 July 2005 and will be asking residents of the Stanley area for their views on proposals to improve health services including the replacement of Stanley Health Centre. The new centre will provide those services currently provided at Stanley Health Centre together with other services such as outpatient services and X ray facilities currently provided at South Moor Hospital.
The outcome of the consultation will be reported to the meeting of the Sub Committee to be held on 11 July 2005.
Resolved: That the report be noted.
A5 West Auckland - Redevelopment of Health Services Andrew Kenworthy Chief Executive of the Durham Dales Primary Care Trust updated the Sub Committee on the progress made to create a new health facility in the West Auckland area. Independent surveyors have been commissioned to examine all possible sites in the area. A further report will be provided on the outcome of the survey.
Resolved: That the report be noted.
A6 Patient and Public Involvement The Sub Committee received a presentation from Heather Inglis, Public Involvement Manager with Sedgefield Primary Care Trust
Heather explained that a local steering group had been involved in developing a patient and public involvement resource pack. Its purpose was to make patient and public involvement and consultation easy and provided examples of best practice and practical guidance.
The Sub Committee welcomed the development of the resource pack as an example of good practice and encouraged others in the County to consider this approach.
Resolved: That the presentation be noted.
A7 Patient and Public Forums - Update The Sub Committee considered a report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny (for copy see file of Minutes) providing an update on the new arrangements for patient and public involvement in health.
Resolved: That the report be noted.
A8 Issues from Patient Advice and Liaison Services There were no issues reported from Patient Advice and Liaison Services.
A9 Annual Report The Sub Committee considered a report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny explaining the Annual Report of the Health Scrutiny Sub Committee (for copy see file of Minutes).
Resolved: That the report be approved for circulation to relevant organisations.
A10 Scrutiny Projects and Work Programme The Sub Committee considered a report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny about the work programme of the Sub Committee (for copy see file of Minutes).
Resolved: That the work programme be noted.
A11 School Meals Scrutiny Report The Sub Committee considered a report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny about a scrutiny investigation of school meals in County Durham (for copy see file of Minutes).
Resolved: That the report be noted.
A12 Delivering Choosing Health The Sub Committee considered a report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny about the Department of Health’s paper ‘Choosing Health’ (for copy see file of Minutes).
