Purpose of Report

1. To explain a presentation to be given by the Public Involvement Manager at the Sedgefield Primary Care Trust.

Background

2. Involving patients and public in the improvement of health services is a key to the development of the modernised health service. Involving the public in a meaningful way is not as easy as it sounds.

3. Sedgefield Primary Care Trust is developing a resource pack to provide a framework for public involvement in health service issues in this Health Trust area. A strong theme of this resource pack is involvement of local people in developing this approach.

Recommendation

4. You are recommended to consider the way in which public involvement is being progressed in the Sedgefield PCT area.
