Item: A4 Tees Review - Joint Committee
Health Scrutiny Sub-Committee 3 October 2005 Tees Review - Joint Committee |
|
Report of Head of Overview and Scrutiny |
Purpose of Report 1. To explain that a consultation exercise has started about a review of hospital services in the Tees Valley.
Background 2. For some time there have been discussions about possible changes in hospital services in the Tees Valley. Professor Ara Darzi was commissioned to review the future configuration of services. His report has now been received and has influenced the proposals which are to be the subject of formal consultation. The formal consultation document started on 23
rd September and concludes just before Christmas.
3. As this will involve proposals which affect a number of Health Scrutiny Committees, there is a statutory requirement to set up a Scrutiny Joint Committee to consider the formal consultation. The Tees Valley Health Scrutiny Joint Committee has invited this Sub-Committee to nominate three members to serve on the Joint Committee to represent the interests of County Durham.
4. In accordance with the Committee’s arrangements made for Joint Committees, the Chairman, together with a representative from Easington District and Sedgefield District have been nominated to serve on the Joint Committee.
5. A presentation to the Sub-Committee about the implications for County Durham is being arranged.
Recommendation 6. You are asked to note the position.
