Purpose of Report 1. To explain that the Sedgefield Patient Forum have been monitoring changes made to services following a Public Listening Event in 2004.
Background 2. Following a Public Listening Event in 2004, Sedgefield Patient Forum has informed the Scrutiny Sub-Committee of the progress made in relation to issues raised by the public.
3. In summary, the following issues have been pursued -
- Difficulty in accessing GPs - a number of strategies have been introduced to provide better access.
- Out-of-hours concerns - these issues were referred to the PCT and are under discussion.
- Location of new Shildon Health Centre - this is on-going.
- Concern about accessing NHS dentists - the PCT has negotiated additional dental time.
- A number of mental health issues were raised - these are under consideration.
- Language barriers - a language translation service is being developed.
