Purpose of Report
1. To explain a report prepared by the Patient and Public Involvement Forum for Sedgefield about the Out of Hours Service.
Background
2. As part of their work plan, the Patient Forum for Sedgefield investigated the Out of Hours/Urgent Care Centre at Bishop Auckland Hospital. This involved a visit to the hospital in August last year.
3. The main issues which arose from this investigation were:
· Suggestions for improvements to the waiting area and reception area to present a more relaxing and welcoming atmospheres.
· Suggestions for improved signage and advertising.
· Travel to the Centre was raised as an issue.
· Overall, the majority of patients were satisfied with the treatment they received and the patient’s journey.
4. This information is helpful to the Scrutiny Committee in terms of an independent assessment of this type of care on behalf of patient’s representatives.
