Report of the Head of Overview and Scrutiny
Purpose of Report
1. To explain a number of constitutional issues at the start of this new session.
Background
2. Under the County Council’s Constitution, a specific Sub-Committee has been established in pursuance of the Health and Social Care Act 2001 to discharge Health Scrutiny responsibilities.
3. The Chairman and the Vice Chairman of the Health Scrutiny SubCommittee have been elected by the County Council at the Overview and Scrutiny Committee Annual Meeting. Councillor John Priestley has been re-elected as Chairman and Councillor Rita Carr has also been reelected as Vice Chairman.
4. Under the Constitution, District Council representatives elect a Vice Chairman to represent District Council interests.
5. At the meeting on 3th July, nominations will be sought to serve as the District Council Vice Chairman of this Sub-Committee.
