Under the Gambling Act 2005, Local Authorities will have a range of new responsibilities relating to gambling.  The Act requires the Local Authority to prepare and publish a Statement of Principles every three years.  The Statement is an important document and outlines how the Licensing Authority intends to approach its various licensing duties when considering any application.

Consultation Process

Copies of the Statement will be posted/e-mailed to consultees.  The Statement will also be posted on the Council’s website.

Consultees

  • The Chief Officer of Police
  • One or more persons who appear to the authority to represent the interests of persons carrying on gambling businesses in the authority’s area.
  • One or more persons who appear to the authority to represent the interests of persons who are likely to be affected by the exercise of the authority’s functions under the Gambling Act 2005.
