Decision:

The scheme has been developed in line with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) guidelines and priorities and eligibility criteria. The detail is set out within the attached delegated decision report and provides the following support: 

 

·        Use of the Covid Winter Funding to provide support to children from 0 to 19 who meet the eligibility criteria in the form of a food voucher to the value of £20 per week in the lead up to the Christmas, February half term; Easter and May half term school holiday periods for every Free School Meal eligible child, administered directly from health visitors, schools/other educational establishments/providers;

 

·        A payment of £21,000 to the Feeding Families programme so they can provide a Christmas Hamper to vulnerable families with children identified through the One Point Service;

 

·        Establishing a mechanism for Social Care Professionals in CYPS to access a fund of £170,000, set up to provide support to vulnerable children identified as being at need and requiring clothing, bedding and other essential household items which will ensure they are safe and warm over the winter period; 

 

·        Establishing a mechanism for Social Care Professionals in AWH to access a fund of £100,000, set up to provide support to vulnerable adults identified as being at need and requiring clothing, bedding and other essential household items which will ensure they are safe and warm over the winter period; 

 

·        Funding to be provided to the Durham Christian Partnership and FEED project to administer fuel vouchers to vulnerable households;

 

·         A one off award of £80 to Care Leavers and eligible Kinship Carers to support with food and fuel.
