The Leader of the Council provided the Council with an update of the business discussed at meetings of the Cabinet held on 14 and 22 January and 12 February 2014.

Councillor Watson referred to the Welfare Reform Update considered by Cabinet on 12 February and the decision to transfer £140,000 from the Welfare Assistance Scheme to AAP’s to support grass roots projects aimed at helping residents affected by the changes to welfare and asked whether this money would be ring fenced and whether there were any criteria for its allocation.  The Leader replied that the decision had been taken following successful schemes which had operated in East Durham and undertook to provide Councillor Watson with a written reply following the meeting,
