Minutes:
The Chairman introduced the Licence Holder to the meeting and introductions took place.
Consideration was given to the report of the Licensing Team Leader which requested the Sub-Committee to consider and determine the ongoing suitability of the Licence Holder to continue to be licensed as a Hackney Carriage Driver (for copy see file of minutes).
The Licensing Team Leader presented the report and the applicant was given the opportunity to ask questions.
A representative from Durham Constabulary had submitted a written statement relating to matters outlined in the report which he required to be considered by the Sub-Committee. The applicant was given a copy of the statement and took the opportunity of a five minute adjournment to read it in full, before the Licensing Team Leader read it to the Sub-Committee.
The Licence Holder addressed the Sub-Committee and the responded to questions from Members.
The Licence Holder was given the opportunity to sum-up before the Sub-Committee adjourned for a fifteen minute break at 12.40pm.
The Sub-Committee retired to deliberate the application in private at 1pm and after reconvening at 1.15pm the Chairman delivered the Sub-Committees decision.
Resolved:
That the suspension remain in place and the Licence be revoked as the Licence Holder was not deemed to be a fit and proper person.
