Application for the Ongoing Suitability of a Hackney Carriage Driver

Minutes:

The Chairman welcomed the Licence Holder to the meeting and introductions were made.

 

The Committee considered the report of the Corporate Director Adults and Health Services which requested Members to determine the ongoing suitability of the Licence Holder to continue to be licensed as a Hackney Carriage Driver (for copy of report, see file of minutes).

 

The Licensing Team Leader advised Members that the vehicle check book had been misplaced and was in the vehicle as required by the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Policy. A copy of the check sheet had been circulated to Members at the meeting.

 

Durham Constabulary were unable to attend the meeting but had provided a written statement containing any information held on their records and Police National Computer.

 

The Licensing Enforcement Officer presented the enforcement report. Members and the Licence Holder were given the opportunity to ask questions of the Officer.

 

The Licence Holder was invited to address the Sub-Committee and respond to questions.

 

All parties were invited to sum up then the Sub-Committee retired to deliberate the application in private at 10.10 am. After re-convening at 10.15 am the Chairman delivered the Sub-Committee’s decision.

 

Resolved: That the Licence Holder be issued with a written warning for a 3 month period.
