Application for the Ongoing Suitability of a Hackney Carriage Driver

Minutes:

The Chairman welcomed the Licence Holder and his supporter to the meeting and introductions were made.

 

The Committee considered the report of the Corporate Director of Adult and Health Services which requested Members to determine the ongoing suitability of the Licence Holder to continue to be licenced as a Hackney Carriage Driver (for copy of report, see file of minutes).

 

The Licensing Team Leader presented the report and advised Members that a further interview had taken place with the Licence Holder and that the Licence Holder had provided 3 reference which had been verified. A copy of the references and a record of the interview had been circulated to Members at the meeting.

 

The Licensing Team Leader then advised Members that they had received confirmation from Durham Constabulary that the Licence Holder had contacted the police and she read out a copy of the police report.

 

Members and the Licence Holder were given the opportunity to ask questions of the officer.

 

The Licensing Enforcement Officer was in attendance to answer any questions.

 

The Licence Holder and his supporter were invited to address the Sub-Committee and respond to questions.

 

All parties were invited to sum up then the Sub-Committee retired to deliberate the application in private at 3.00 pm. After re-convening at 3.10 pm the Chairman delivered the Sub-Committee’s decision.

 

Resolved: That the Licence Holder be issued with a written warning for a 6 month period.
