Application for the Ongoing Suitability of a Hackney Carriage Driver

Minutes:

The Chair welcomed the Licence Holder and his supporter who was also his witness to the meeting and introductions were made.

 

The Sub-Committee considered the report of the Corporate Director of Adult and Health Services which requested Members to determine the suitability of the Licence Holder to continue to be licensed as a Hackney Carriage Driver (for copy see file of minutes).

 

The Licensing Team Leader presented the report and all parties were given the opportunity to ask questions.

 

Members were informed by the Licensing Team Leader that there were no representations from Durham Constabulary.

 

The Licensing Enforcement Officer presented the Licensing Enforcement Team Committee Referral Report and all parties were given the opportunity to ask questions.  A witness then joined the meeting and was invited to give evidence and responded to questions from Members and Officers.  The Licence Holder was also given the opportunity to ask questions and then the witness left the meeting.

 

The Licence Holder and his witness were both invited to address the Sub-Committee and responded to questions from Members and Officers.

 

At 11.20am the Sub-Committee retired to deliberate the application in private. After re-convening at 11.40am the Chairman delivered the Sub-Committee’s decision.

 

Resolved:

 

That the Licence Holder be issued with a suspension of his hackney carriage driver licence for a minimum period of one month and that the Licence Holder undertakes an Anger Management Course before the suspension is lifted.
