Minutes:
The RE Subject Adviser advised Members that she had been asked to contribute an item on Religious Education for a booklet that Durham County Council were producing on literacy.
She also advised Members that she has started to visit some schools in relation to KS4 provision of Religious Education.
The RE Subject Adviser advised Members that she receives a number of queries from schools who are wanting to obtain contact details and recommendations for places of worship that schools could visit as part of their RE provision. The RE Subject Adviser stated that she did not keep such a list and this was in fact kept by the North East Religious Resources Centre. She suggested that SACRE recommended to the authority that an e mail be sent to schools to promote this service and provide contact details.
Members discussed the proposal and agreed to recommend to the authority that an e mail be sent to schools promoting the service offered by the North East Religious Resources Centre.
