Minutes:
The Overview and Scrutiny Officer gave an update on the joint review of Children’s Residential Care Homes. There had been three meetings held so far with members receiving information on the legislation and regulations on 31 January 2019. Two focus groups held had discussed the impact on young people who live in private residential care homes. Councillor H Smith had attended a Children’s Home Network meeting and an additional meeting had been added to the review on 26 March 2019 that would consider the draft accreditation scheme and the work of partners.
Councillor Brookes asked if the review group could explore in more detail the profit side of private children’s homes. The Overview and Scrutiny Officer was aware that some lobbying had taken place around this and it was agreed to look into this further.
