Charter Trustees considered a report of the Clerk that proposed that the ceremonial occasion of the swearing in of the new Mayor and of the presentation of the jewels and medals (“Mayor making”) be postponed pending Government announcements regarding Covid protection rules (for copy see file of minutes).

Councillor Wilkes suggested a slight amendment to the wording in the recommendation as it could be misinterpreted that restrictions are lifted on 21 June 2021.

Resolved:

That the traditional ceremonial occasion be postponed until after the Government review and announce lifting Covid restrictions be agreed.
