The Council considered a report of the Director of Regeneration, Economy and Growth regarding the adoption of the Durham City, Lanchester and Oakenshaw Neighbourhood Plans (for copy see file of Minutes).

In Moving adoption of the Plans Councillor E Scott commended communities for the work undertaken in producing the Plans which reflected the priorities of local people.  In Seconding adoption of the Plans Councillor Rowlandson added that local communities had enthusiastically engaged in neighbourhood planning.

Resolved:

That:

(a)          the Durham City Neighbourhood Plan at Appendix 2 be formally made (adopted) by the Council to become part of the statutory development plan;

(b)          the Lanchester Village Neighbourhood Plan at Appendix 3 be formally made (adopted) by the Council to become part of the statutory development plan;

(c)          the Oakenshaw Neighbourhood Plan at Appendix 4 be formally made (adopted) by the Council to become part of the statutory development plan;

(d)          the Head of Legal and Demographic Services be authorised to satisfy the necessary publicity requirements of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 in respect of Durham City, Lanchester and Oakenshaw Neighbourhood Plans.
