Consideration of the Ongoing Suitability of a Private Hire Driver

Minutes:

The Sub-Committee considered a report of the Corporate Director of Regeneration and Local Services to consider an application for the ongoing suitability of a Private Hire Driver (for copy see file of minutes).

 

The Chair welcomed the Licence Holder and his Legal Representative to the meeting and introductions took place.  The Legal Officer explained the procedure.

 

The Legal Officer advised that there had been late submissions by both parties and the Sub-Committee agreed to adjourn in order for this to be circulated and considered as part of the hearing.

 

The Licensing Enforcement Officer presented the Licensing Enforcement Team Report and all parties were given the opportunity to ask questions.  The Licensing Enforcement Officer called a witness from Durham Constabulary and all parties were given the opportunity to ask questions.  The witness then left and took no further part in the hearing.

 

The Licence Holders representative addressed the Sub-Committee with regards to matters outlined in the report and all parties were given the opportunities to ask questions of the Licence Holder.

 

At 11.20 a.m. both parties were asked to sum-up and at 11.50 a.m. the Sub-Committee retired to deliberate the application in private.

 

Resolved:

 

That the Licence Holder be subject to a 12 month written warning.
