The Director of Legal and Democratic Services and Clerk to the Panel reminded Members of the process and advised on the two options available to the Panel.

The Panel discussed the Police and Crime Commissioner’s recommendation to appoint Mr G Hall as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner. It was noted that the information required by legislation had been provided by the Commissioner, however they would have liked more information in the report regarding the settlement on the proposed salary and how the expectations of the new Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner differed from the previous appointment.

The Director of Legal and Democratic Services and Clerk to the Panel advised that the matter had no direct bearing on the proposed appointment, however she would feedback to the Commissioner for consideration in the event of future confirmation hearings.

Upon a vote being taken it was:

Resolved:

That the Panel endorse the appointment of Mr G Hall to the post of Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Durham Constabulary in accordance with the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.
