Evaluation of the Durham Agreed Syllabus

Minutes:

Members considered the RE Agreed Syllabus review 2024 report that surveyed RE subject leaders in primary, secondary and special schools in the summer term 2024 to establish their views on the Agreed Syllabus. The purpose of this was to build a picture around the current impact of the syllabus as SACRE approach the review period.

The survey was made available electronically and was shared in network meetings and via Schools Portal, which was accessible to every school in County Durham. It was also shared with trust leaders for distribution across their schools.

The report outlined the qualitative and quantitative responses received from the 53 leaders that shared their views (for copy of report, see file of minutes).

Members discussed the report, in particular denominations of religion and looking at the support materials accompanying the revised Durham Agreed Syllabus.

K Passmore provided details of training and resources available around the syllabus structure.

Members thanked the Senior Professional Learning Advisor for her informative report.
