Minutes:
The Panel considered a report of the Monitoring Officer which set out the arrangements for Durham Police and Crime Panel which included details relating to membership, casual vacancies, independent members, terms of office, elected members, allowances and validity of proceedings (for copy see file of minutes).
The Panel were asked to endorse the arrangements and authorise the Monitoring Officer to present their approval, at a future meeting, when the Panel is formally constituted.
The Panel while noting that the membership of elected members was to be undertaken on an annual basis, and that both constituent authorities had agreed to this, members felt that in due course there would be merit in changing this so that members were appointed for a longer term for reasons of experience and continuity. It was noted that any change in the future would be subject to endorsement by both authorities’ councils.
Resolved:
That the recommendations contained in the report be approved.
