Built in 1934 Easington Social Welfare Centre was the central facility in Easington Colliery supporting the welfare and social life of the former mining community. Paid for through subscriptions by the miners themselves, this majestic old building has been at the heart of this community ever since it was built. Although in need of major refurbishment (estimated at £1.7 million) the management committee are striving to improve this facility so it can cater for the communities’ needs, their future development and individual dreams.
At present the centre has a number of regular user groups and events and is looking to expand upon the services that it provides. If you are a local group or organisation who is seeking premises you should contact the management committee will be eager to assist you.
